This essay focuses on the ambivalence of the diasporic experience of the Black subject in Equatoguinean author César A. Mba Abogo’s writing. His narrative and lyric texts not only discuss an experience of alienness and exclusion. By establishing an extensive network of references to Black knowledge systems and intertexts, they simultaneously transcend the Black diasporic subject’s isolation and make reference to a shared afrodiasporic history of both oppression and resistance.
